0-to-1 SaaS platform for an Indian jewellery-tech startup

Built a multi-tenant SaaS platform from scratch for offline jewellery retailers going online — apps, ecommerce, karigar management, and an AI pipeline that turns phone photos into studio-quality catalog images.

The problem

Offline jewellery retailers had no way to take their business online: no ecommerce presence, no digital system for custom orders or tracking karigars (artisans), and no way to stay in touch with customers between store visits. Catalog photography was a separate bottleneck — studio-quality product shots at the scale of thousands of individual pieces weren't realistic for most retailers.

What we built

A multi-tenant SaaS platform built from the ground up: native Android and iOS apps plus a public ecommerce storefront per retailer, a custom-order module with karigar assignment and status tracking, supplier management, daily gold/silver rate broadcasts to customers, and integrated payment gateway. The distinctive piece is an image pipeline built on a LaMa-based inpainting model that turns a jewellery photo shot on an ordinary phone into a studio-quality catalog image, removing the need for professional product photography entirely.

Zephico was brought on as the outsourced engineering team to design and build this platform from scratch — there was no existing product, just a founding team that understood the jewellery retail business and needed a technical team to build the software underneath it.

How it started

Kickoff was in November, with the first version live by March — four months from a blank repo to a platform retailers could actually run their stores on.

The photography problem

Every retailer needed catalog-quality product photography, and running a photography studio at the scale of thousands of individual pieces wasn’t realistic for the retailers or the platform. We built an image pipeline on top of a LaMa-based inpainting model that takes an ordinary phone photo of a piece of jewellery and produces a studio-quality catalog image, cutting the photography studio out of the workflow entirely.

What shipped

Native Android and iOS apps, a public ecommerce storefront per retailer, a custom-order module with karigar assignment and tracking, supplier management, daily gold and silver rate broadcasts to customers, and payment gateway integration — all in the same four-month build.

Zephico continues to support and maintain the platform today, running at pradeepjewellers.in.
